The Malfunctioning Misfits do the T-School 2 phase
(Things were going well until I had a brain fart in stadium and tried to ride last year's course.
Jumping fence 3 backwards as fence 2 doesn't cut the mustard.)
The Malfunctioning Misfits had a solid debut at their first outing as a team. Both horses and riders outperformed their expectations at this early season opener in Area I.
Christine and Irish were the lead-off pair for the team, putting in a solid dressage test, despite some tension in the up and coming 5 year old Arab/Warmblood cross. They shone in the stadium phase and put in a very competently performed course to take 6th place overall in their Senior Beginner Novice division.

Riding next was Lise on Christine's Haflinger, Mico. Lise has struggled somewhat in the off season, but managed to overcome her demons and pulled it together for a well-ridden dressage test that had them in second after the phase. Unfortunately, rider error–going off course in what should have been a routine stadium round–deprived the pair of a placing in the final standings of their beginner novice division.

Katrina on Lise's mare Clover had a decent dressage test, albeit a bit unsteady as the mare is cycling, which makes it difficult to bring out her best paces. Their test had them in 3rd, mare-ish attitude notwithstanding. The Clover redeemed herself in the stadium phase, as Katrina was able to extract an excellent round out of the mare, including a smooth flying change on a direction change between fences 3 and 4. Their performance kept them in 3rd place overall at the end of the day, despite a scoring error that initially stripped them of any placing, which, fortunately, was quickly resolved.

The Misfits would like to thank Danny and Tony, for lending their photographic services, catering, and “nuisance training” capabilities, and a special thanks to AJ, who brought the hay in while we were gone.
The Misfits are still planning out the rest of the 2005 season, which will continue with the first cross country school of the year en route to their next competition, the June 12th Green Acres Stable three phase, where the trio will be competing in the beginner novice division.
