Good footing
More road work with another barnmate's company. The dirt road was freshly graded, the footing still very good, very few stones kicked up by the grader. Lots of very forward trot, felt what must be lengthenings at times! Clover prefers to canter, I have to half-halt frequently in order to keep her from breaking into the canter. So the trot work must be good for muscle development knowing Clover, she prefers to do things in order to conserve effort (ok, she's lazy, ha), so cantering is less effort to her than trotting.
We did some forward canter work as well fun and good for you, too. Mostly stuck to trot/walk intervals. Everytime we went under the powerlines that cross our road, Clover would start bucking! She must've been conducting a charge, with her shoes on the front and the moisture in the ground after last week's deluge.
